Okay so this is the inspiration for this one

Elaborating on it a little more, let’s say we take the events of OFF literally. There’s no deeper meaning, no symbolism, just exactly what we saw is what we get. By shutting the world off, Batter kills everyone remaining, including himself.

BUT, what if his punishment for doing all those awful things is to relive his actions, in a constant purgatory like state, cursed to be a helpless puppet for the rest of all eternity? What if control of The Batter is given to you by his demonic captures, which is who’s mysteriously talking to you in the beginning (“You’ve been assigned to a being called ‘The Batter…’”)? The whole game is you carrying out his eternal torture, which makes sense when you think about his closing line: “Escaping from your purpose is impossible.” I think this is sort of him reaching out to the unsuspecting player in the only way he can. He understands that this isn’t what you signed up for, you thought you were only playing a game, you didn’t want this. But it’s okay, because he also understands that this is what his life—or afterlife—has to be now. It’s not your fault. There was nothing you or him could have done to stop it. He’s learned after years of repeating his greatest sin that there is no escape, no hope. Constantly being forced by an outside being to relive his actions and beat the life out of his beloved family, watching as they breathe their last breath, unable to outwardly express anything other than what he felt in that moment of time, is the misery he has to pay.

But that’s where The Judge’s ending comes in.

The Judge’s ending is basically the player catching on to what’s really happening and deciding to show mercy on The Batter’s tortured soul. You take those God-like powers you’ve been given and pull a fourth wall break that would make Zacharie proud. You change character perspectives and use The Judge to finally put The Batter to rest. This is why we see Batter differently. He doesn’t see himself any different than he did when he was alive, so neither will we. But once we switch perspectives, we see BadBatter, finally showing how corrupted his soul has become after so many years of rotting away. Killing him, as difficult as it may have been for us, was really a relief after years of countless Puppeteers making him relive his suffering. You were the only merciful one.

If he could’ve, he would’ve thanked you.
